According to a poll published this week, a third of Donald Trump’s base of voters don’t ever want to see a woman become president.
The Economist/YouGov poll published on Wednesday found that 33 percent of self-identified Trump voters said they didn’t want to see a woman leading the country at any point in their lifetime. Another 39 percent said they weren’t sure how they felt about a woman becoming president, with only 29 percent — fewer than 3 in 10 Trump voters — saying they did hope for a woman to lead the White House sometime in the near future.
The findings from this poll confirm a very big point: that Trump won (and Kamala Harris lost) in large part because of misogyny, which Trump easily tapped into during the campaign.
Democrats need to learn how to counter that hate — and to convince a large segment of Americans that their views are incredibly wrong.
